What are Dermal Fillers?

Soft dermal fillers are very popular and ideal to give fuller and more defined natural looking lips and add volume to the face, to give a smoother and softer skin appearance, smoothing out moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Fillers can be used to enhance lips and cheeks and reduce the appearance of  facial lines as well as giving a younger look to the back of hands and to the décolletage (cleavage area) and neck.

Facial or dermal filler is a clear hyaluronic acid gel mixed with a mild local anaesthetic called lignocaine. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. Its function in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent to soften the skin and give it a fuller appearance. Fillers are naturally absorbed into the body over a 9 to 18 month period. Since its conception in 1996, millions of hyaluronic acid filler treatments have been performed safely across the world.
